VOLUME
DO IT BACKWARDS
What a lot of us on the Hairprint team do is use our shampoo and conditioner in reverse. We condition first, letting the nutrient-dense ingredients penetrate deeply into the scalp and hair. Wait 2-3 minutes, then in step 2 we use a small amount of shampoo to wash the hair and the oils in the conditioner off. This helps us ladies with fine hair get all the bounce we want without weighing the hair down.
PLUMP UP THE STRANDS BY STARTING AT THE ROOT
When you apply product be sure you get it right in there where the hair and the scalp meet. We like to use the DIY dry shampoo recipe we shared with you last month.
We add a small amount to our fingertips and massage the dry shampoo right at the roots to add lift to the hair. (If you’re not keen on making your own dry shampoo you can use any dry shampoo brand you like at your local health food store).
SLEEP ON IT WITH A TWIST
Wash your hair at night. Get your favorite 90’s silk scrunchie. Add a little mousse. Tie your hair in various twisted topknots. And sleep on it. You will wake up with a lot more volume than if you washed in the morning.
EMBRACE YOUR THIRD-DAY HAIR
For limp hair that won’t hold up, under-washing and under-brushing is definitely a plus. Create the appearance of fuller hair by simply adding a little water to the hair by wetting your hands and using your fingers to amp up the volume. Then add a little bit of mousse at the roots and blow-dry moistened hair upside down directly at the root for extra volume. Finish by applying some dry shampoo for a beach wave finish.
TRY THE TECHNIQUE YOUR GRANDMOTHER USED
Good old hot rollers that your grandma used still work wonders today. Sleep in them (if single) or just keep them on around the house when no one is watching and you’re good to go!
