Hairprint is a patented scientific breakthrough that restores gray hair to its true color. It is not a dye. It replenishes the natural pigment (eumelanin) found in brown and black hair that has turned gray. Hairprint is also a true protein treatment that will add body, strength, texture, and sheen while reducing frizz, and discoloration. Our simple, hypoallergenic, and odor-free formula produces color so natural, it defies detection. The treatment can be applied at home in about 75-90 minutes.
BEFORE ORDERING:
1. Hairprint Color Restorer works for naturally black, brown, and light brown hair only. We do not have a formula for blonde or red hair.
2. To determine what color to order or if you need two kits for your first application, see the Ordering Tips/Color Chart Tab below.
3. If you have used hair dyes, relaxers, perms/waves, dyes, blowouts, or keratin treatments, please read our Transition Tips Tab before ordering. You will need to take special steps to protect your processed hair.
TO ENSURE OPTIMAL OUTCOME:
Hairprint only works when it has unobstructed access to the hair. The best way to get started is to deep cleanse your hair by our using Chelating Shampoo 2-3 times the week before your Color Restorer application (see below).
It will eliminate minerals, chlorine, calcification, silicone, and synthetic residues that cling to the hair and build up over time. Most haircare products and quite a few products labeled "natural" or "organic" contain quaternary ammonium compounds (quats), proteins that coat the surface of your hair, and silicones. These ingredients need to be removed and avoided to achieve best results.
Our gentle daily use shampoos and conditioners are ideal for regular use both before and after Hairprint Color Restorer. Each formula is free of synthetic residues and suitable for both virgin and color-treated hair. They rinse away leaving healthy, soft, clean hair.
* What are quats? These are bromine or chlorine salts of ammonia that act as anti-static agents, disinfectants, and algaecides. Many natural hair care companies justify quats because they may be made from rapeseed or turnip oil. Quats can defrizz the hair and make it feel softer. However, quats are toxic to marine life. Quats coat the hair and may gum up the follicle. They include cetrimonium chloride, behentrimonium chloride, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride and any ingredient ending in -onium. Healthy hair does not need synthetics. What is toxic to fish is not good for you either.
Do not use the following for the 7 days leading up to the treatment:
BEFORE YOU BUY
To determine your selection of Hairprint Color Restorer, compare your current natural color, best seen at the nape of your neck, to the options on our Color Chart below.
If you fall in between two options on the color chart we suggest starting with the darker color for more consistent coverage of gray. One kit will sufficiently cover 6”-10” of growth depending on your hair thickness and porosity. If you have 50% or more gray hair, you will need to use two kits initially following our double application method directions.
Once you have successfully used Hairprint on all your hair you can continue to use Hairprint on your roots and new growth as needed, which only requires one kit.
Root touch-ups, generally required every 3-6 weeks, can be done using half the normal recommended amounts of a full treatment.
The purpose of a Transition is to protect chemically treated hair— whether highlighted, bleached or dyed—from getting into contact with Hairprint. We want to avoid treating it because chemically treated hair is damaged. The internal genetic template inside the cortex, what we call your hairprint, is missing due to the impact of the chemicals. Hairprint infuses the hair with its original pigment, eumelanin. The hair arranges the pigment using this internal structure. That structure determines how light refracts, and the way light refracts determines how we see color. Damaged hair cannot do this. When Hairprint is applied to damaged hair, your hair may turn darker or you may experience more dryness or brittleness due to preexisting damage.
We recommend starting the transition when you have at least 1-2” of new growth that has not been dyed/chemically treated.
Directions: After thoroughly washing with the Pretreatment, cover all of the dyed/ chemically treated/damaged hair with a coating that will not come off during the application. We highly recommend shea butter. Do not use oils.
Apply Hairprint as instructed to the uncoated areas. You may need to reapply this coating between steps of the application process. Take care to avoid getting coatings onto the hair you are applying Hairprint to. For those with longer hair, you may need assistance from a hair coloring professional or a highly skilled family member/friend to transition to Hairprint. If you make a transition now, your hair will be much healthier long into your life.
Here is the list of Hairprint's food-grade ingredients:
Pretreatment Ingredients: Aqua, decyl glucoside, leuconostoc radish, cocos nucifera ferment, sodium chloride, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, phytic acid.
*The concentrations of hydrogen peroxide we use are between 1% and 1.5%, a fraction of what one gets in drugstore peroxide. In conventional hair dyes, peroxide is used to break open the hair, and can be up to a 12-15% concentration. When Hairprint is applied to your hair, the peroxide is gone in two minutes.
